Sierra Nevada Corporation Mission Systems UK, LTD. (SNC MS UK) recently announced plans to expand, upgrade and modernise its facilities in St Athan, South Wales.
The expansion brings SNC MS UK’s facility footprint to more than 50,000 square feet, allowing the company to complete multiple full-scale design, integration and test projects for autonomous systems.

“We have invested in new facilities and regeneration of existing buildings to create a modern and fully capable environment to deliver best-of-breed technology to defence,” said SNC MS UK’s Managing Director Hywel Baker. “SNC MS UK is dedicated to shaping the sector’s future, creating new jobs, and driving its growth. We are committed to creating highly skilled jobs and providing those employees with training support and leadership through a parent organisation with a proven heritage and continued success in this industry.”

Since 1938, St Athan Enterprise Zone in South Wales has been a major centre for aerospace and defence. SNC MS UK’s facilities will provide state-of-the-art areas for research and development and equipment for test, evaluation and capability integration – including hardware and software. “We are pleased to offer our existing and new customers increased performance and access to previously unavailable capability with our new Centre of Excellence,” said Baker.

SNC MS UK will leverage advanced technology from its parent company Sierra Nevada Corporation, a global leader in the aerospace and defence sector, and other partners to enable enhanced connectivity for multi-domain operations, interoperability and reach back to the U.S. for Joint All-Domain Command and Control (JADC2).

SNC MS UK employs experts in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) in an effort to support new technology and solutions to critical defence and security problems. The company is also partnering with local universities to support academic research in the most current technological fields.
